Hoover Color’s Van Dyke Browns are synthentic Brown Iron Oxides, which can range in color from a deep reddish brown to a cloudy mild black. They possess limited heat stability. Hoover Color offers a variety of three standard Synthetic Van Dyke Browns. Imported Van Dyke Brown from Germany is available, along with a well-established substitute, 778BN Brown.  The substitute has better dispersion characteristics and color consistency than the real Van Dyke.  Hoover Color has recently introduced to the market a water soluble extract from Van Dyke Brown: our 925 Brown.  This new material should help stain manufactures develop better water-based stains in order to deal with tighter environmental regulations.
