Hoover Color’s SYN-OX Black Iron Oxides are synthetic Black Iron Oxides, which can range in color from a mild charcoal to a deep carbon black. As with all Iron Oxide Pigments, SYN-OX Black Iron Oxides are permanent and light fast. They possess limited heat stability, but show excellent chemical heat resistance. Hoover Color offers two standard SYN-OX Iron Oxides.

General Use Grades - These products can be used in any application that meets with the physical limitations outlined above.

HB-1094 Black Iron Oxide (C.I. Pigment Black 11) - A deep jet black which has excellent wetting, dispersion and suspension properties, along with high hiding power. Excellent for metal furniture and railings, gray tinting, trim, concrete and other building products, flooring and printing inks.

Construction Grades - These products are not ground to the fineness of our “General Use” Grades.  While they still exhibit the same coloring & physical properties of other grades, these products may require more processing in order to thoroughly mix or disperse them.

HB-1034 Black Iron Oxides “Charcoal” (C.I. Pigment Black 11)- A high strength, economic grade medium charcoal black especially for cement and building product applications. (see color)
